In Aug of 2008 we were asked by South Western Illinois College-SWIC to manufacture a coin or medallion for Astronaut Sandra Magnus, who then took the coin with her on her mission to the International Space Station-Endeavour Space Shuttle Launch STS-126, which occurred Nov.14, 2008. We not only had the honor of manufacturing the coin, but we were invited to witness the STS-126 Endeavour launch along with the many family and friends of Astronaut Sandra Magnus. This experience was incredible, and one we are honored to be a part of, and we will never forget.
When Astronaut Sandra Magnus returned to Earth in Feb. 2009, we bagin manufacturing commemorative reproductions of the Space Coin. These are numbered and packaged with a certificate of authenticity. Sandra Magnus presented the original coin back to SWIC, where it is on display, and commemoratives are for sale. Proceeds will be put in an education fund for SWIC students.
